Kris Freeman was the United States' best hope for a medal in the cross-country skiing events at the Winter Olympics. He also has Type 1 diabetes. Unfortunately, the fortnight didn't go to plan - despite four years of careful preparations. Results so far:
On February 15 (early Feb 16 for Aussies) he competed in the 15km cross country ski event and finished 59th. Read about the USA Today report on his race here.
On February 20 he competed in the 30km pursuit and had a crashing hypo. After stopping for help (gatorade from a German coach) he continued on and finished 45th. USA Today has more details here.
On February 28 he competed in the 50km mass start event but failed to finish.
