On Wednesday 15th August Mulgrave Country Club was the venue for a fabulous evening of type 1's gathering, meeting. chatting and eating. Although there wasn't much sporting activity it was great to see HypoActive members getting together and swapping stories.
John Thompson, who with his wife Kerri was kind enough to orbanise the evening, has written out a brief report, so see for yourself what type1's get up to when they group up after dark.
We're hoping this will be the first of a whole series of social gatherings and highly recommend you make the effort to get in touch, book a spot and join in the fun and learning from others.
Of the 50-60 email invitations that we sent out we had 14 accept with 12 coming along on the night, including 3 partners.
We kicked off at 7 pm in a private room at the Mulgrave Country Club. The room was adjacent to the bistro and after the initial introductions, although most already knew each other, we enjoyed a very leisurely dinner and drinks. At times with all the different conversations happening you would have thought there were a lot more than just the 12 of us.
As the meals arrived we all automatically began testing and anybody looking in would have been wondering what was going on!
A lot of the discussions were based around each other's life experiences dealing with everyday ups and downs, both at work and at home home, and with exercise, eating out and travel as well as general conversation.
It was also fantastic from the point of view that the wives and husbands were able to chat to each other with comments such as, 'That's exactly what so and so does...' which was quite hilarious and comical when some of them were actually me, which I instantly denied of course. Just ask Kim or Danielle regarding some of my foot in month comments, you just had to be there!
At the end of the night, we all agreed that we should definitely do it again, but maybe in summer and hopefully get a lot more to come along. It was also agreed that a lot of people had missed out on a great night with the opportunity to catch up with fellow HypoActive members on a very relaxing social and causal basis.
Many thanks to John and Kerri.
