Hi all,
It's been a fabulous year for HypoActive with lots of opportunities to get out there, get active and get involved. Bear with me while I indulge in a recap of 2009:
MS Megaswim Feb 2009 - "A stellar effort was put in by all with the team achieving the furthest distance swam by a HypoActive team to date - a massive 61.4kms!"
Woody's Murray to Moyne April 2009 - Check out the ride report as well as the personal stories of those who took up the challenge for their first time: http://www.hypoactive.org/content/murray-moyne-2009
Run 4 the Kids April 2009 - Check out the run report and the photos of the day on our website: http://www.hypoactive.org/content/run-kids-2009
Walk for the Cure October 2009 - Once again dressed in this year's latest fashion item - the 09/10 HypoActive Insulin Injected Engine t-shirts (check out the photo's on the webpage to see just how good these look - particularly when accessorised with a giant green jelly baby!) the HypoActive team participated in the JDRF walk for the cure. hypoactive.org/image-galleries/jdrf-walk-cure-diabetes-2009
Several other notable events included the epic efforts of other Hypoactive members participating in such events at Round the Bay in a Day, the Melbourne Marathon and several members going to South America to attempt to break the world record for cycling at high altitude - and doing it with a team of people with type one diabetes!
The team included two long-term type 1 diabetics: Carolyn Maxwell, who drove the support vehicle; and Gavin Wright; as well as Devo, the hypo-alert dog. Gavin led the cyclists all the way from the beach to 5,400m above sea level – higher than Everest base camp. Not to mention the fantastic effort and results from Team Type 1 over the year.

The HypoActive Stingrays (our elite team of swimmers... okay fine, the diabetics we can find who are less likely to drown) are now being signed up for the MS MegaSwim!
The MegaSwim is a 24 hour swim relay where teams of up to 15 swimmers vie to complete the most laps and raise money for the MS society Go for Gold Scholarships. Each relay leg needs to complete at least 200m, but you can stop for a rest every 50m if you need to!
If you would like to join the team, have questions before you commit or want someone to smash out some laps with please contact the Team Captain, Laura - laura@hypoactive.org
There is also a Beginners Guide to the MegaSwim available on the HypoActive website.
Happy splashing - Go Stingrays!
