HypoActive

HypoActive received a special honour of being a charity partner for the 2011 Jayco Herald Sun Tour.  As part of the five day stage race around Victoria, HypoActive ran four events:

• Tour for Type 1 - a four day recreational that covers the exact same route as the Jayco Herald Sun Tour, only hours before the Pros race the same course
• Special evenings for people in Ballarat and Geelong to ask questions to athletes with type 1 diabetes and members of Team Type 1
• A recreational ride covering key parts of Stage 4 of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour, finishing atop Arthur's Seat.

Alongside these events we have also been working behind the scenes on a number of other things, including facilitating rides for young athletes with type 1 diabetes to meet members of Team Type 1 and ride in their team car.

Many thanks to all who helped us over the course of many months and also in the days leading up to the events.  Particularly when my nine month old daughter was hospitalised, which meant I was unable to be present during the Saturday charity ride, and only just managed to get to the Friday night community event.  To those who really stepped up to assist, in particular Andrew Moodie, Kaye Hanley and Marcus Hanley, I am forever grateful for all your work.
