Event Date: 10th & 11th Nov 2012
Greg 'Macca' McCubbin, stalwart veteran of the HypoActive Murray to Moyne cycling team, has put out a call for type 1 cyclists to form a team for the 2012 Port to Port (P2P). The P2P is a two-day bike ride through scenic national parks, rolling vineyards and along the banks of the Murray River. The ride starts in Mildura and runs through Swan Hill and on to Echuca. Riders get views of Hattah National Park, orange groves and the mighty Murray as they pedal over the 400 km course.
Greg has asked anyone interested to get in touch about forming a team. It is planned to do this ride as a relay during daylight hours (not like the Murray to Moyne!), so riders will need a road bike and the ability to ride for an hour, preferably more than once. As this is a fully supported ride, both crew and riders are needed, so if you think you could ride or help out with driving, lifting bikes on and off a trailer or handing out lollies please get in touch.
Much effort has been put into gaining sponsorship for this ride, but so far with no results. This does mean that for the ride to go ahead, participants will need to pay their share of the costs, which may be several hundred dollars, unless someone can help with ideas for getting funds. If your company might be able to help, please get in touch straight away.
If you think you might like to ride or help out on this amazing event or would like some more information, please get in touch with HA committee member Danielle here: danielle.harrison@hypoactive.org
