Run for the Kids 07 Report

Despite the morning rain, six runners fronted up to the Botanical Gardens to complete 15.2km of hills and stampedes for the 2nd annual Run for the Kids.  A great event for the HypoActive bunch to take part in - and we'd love to do it again next year, bigger and better (if you have ideas or want to become involved please let us know!)

Murray to Moyne Number Five - A Diabetic Dawdle into the Damn Wind!

With four new riders and two new support crew, all minus working pancreas' and with little idea of their riding background, we weren't so sure how the team would fare this year.  The current riding form and general fitness of our six returning riders from previous years was also a bit of an unknown.  Enter the headwind from our start town in Echuca, consisting of a lovely south westerly wind which hit us head-on as we departed town.  Would we survive the next 420km to Hamilton?

Ride to Cure Diabetes 07

WOW! What a weekend. Do I start at the finish or at the beginning? I’ve just come from watching stage 5 of the Tour Down Under, and seeing Robbie McEwan win the final sprint to the line – Exhilaration & adrenaline to the max! I LOVE watching racing of any kind, I’m an armchair competitor and delight in trying to outguess the participants strategies, before they even know they’re doing it. But who am I kidding?

Top Ten Type 1

Congratulations to Canberra's Fabio Calabria who secured ninth place at the Under 23 Australian Open Road Championships held at Ballarat on Saturday, January 13.  On an extremely tough course suited to the strongest hillclimbers and distance riders, the 122.4km race was dominated by the professional outfit of the South Australia - AIS team.  Despite riding without any teammates Fabio managed to work with those riders left in the race to bridge across to the final selection, finishing ninth overall.
